Clemson sweeps doubleheader from Wright State

Clemson 5-6, Wright State 3-0


CLEMSON — Steve Wilkerson went 2 for 4 with a solo homer and two RBIs to lead Clemson to a 5-3 win over Wright State in the first game of a doubleheader at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. In Game 2, five Tigers pitchers combined to blank Wright State, 6-0.

Daniel Gossett went five solid innings in the first game. After Wright State (3-2) cut the lead to two with two runs in the ninth, Matt Campbell retired the last batter for his second save.

Freshman Clate Schmidt (1-0) earned his first career win in the nightcap for Clemson (4-1). Jon McGibbon and Garrett Boulware drove in two runs each.

The Tigers host Wright State at 1 p.m. today.
