GREENVILLE — South Carolina had its four-game winning streak and eight-game point streak snapped Sunday as the Stingrays (30-24-2-3) fell, 3-2, to the Greenville Road Warriors (31-20-2-4).

Forward Jay Silvia put the Stingrays on top 1-0 with his second goal of the season at 14:22 of the first period, tapping a loose puck past the right pad of Road Warriors goaltender Connor Knapp, who had 25 saves on 27 shots. Forward Justin Courtnall recorded the assist.

Road Warriors forward Brendan Connelly ended the Stingrays’ shutout streak with a power-play goal at 12:45 of the second period, lifting a shot over the glove of Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaitis (41 saves on 44 shots) from the top of the right-wing circle. Defenseman Mike Marcou and forward Jordie Johnston added assists.

The Rays’ shutout streak lasted 217 minutes and two seconds.

The Stingrays reclaimed the lead on a man-advantage goal from forward Tyler Johnson at 16:12 with help from forward Ryan Hayes and defenseman Derek Foam.

Connelly knotted the game 2:19 into the third period and completed the hat trick at 8:03 with his 22nd goal of the season.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum for a Tuesday game at 7 p.m. against the Gwinnett Gladiators.
