Gardner-Webb downs College of Charleston, 55-52
Kevin Hartley scored 14 points and Tashan Newsome added 12 points to lead Gardner-Webb past College of Charleston, 55-52, in an ESPN BracketBuster game Saturday afternoon before a crowd of about 3,000 at TD Arena.
Hartley’s putback with a minute left to play and two free throws with 16.4 seconds left fueled the Runnin’ Bulldogs upset.
The Cougars were led by Andrew Lawrence’s 16 points.
The Cougars will face Wofford Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., in the final regular-season home game of the year.
