Some flooding possible on this soggy, dreary day
It’s been a bleak and dreary morning so far and the rest of the day is not likely to get much better, according to the latest update from the National Weather Service’s Charleston office.
Shortly after 10 a.m. this morning, the Weather Service issued a flood advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in central Charleston County.
For the rest of today, there will be showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Rain may be heavy at times. The flood advisory was to remain in effect until 1 p.m. Areas affected include downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, West Ashley and North Charleston.
Highs today will be in the upper 50s, except in the lower 60s near the coast.
The temperature should dip into the lower 50s this afternoon, with north winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northwest this afternoon.
Chance of rain today is near 100 percent.
Tonight, rain is likely, with lows in the upper 40s and northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. The chance of rain tonight is 70 percent.
Sunday is forecast to be partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the morning, then sunny in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 60s with north winds around 5 mph. The chance of rain is 20 percent.
