Heavy rain forces road closures around Charleston
Heavy rains throughout Saturday have closed many roads.
At 2 p.m., Charleston police report the following streets are closed due to flooding:
Huger Street at King Street
Fishburne Street at Hagood Street
Fishburne Street at Orrs Court
Fishburne Street at Rutledge Street
Lockwood Avenue at Brittlebank Park
Line Street at Crosstown
Ashley Street at Nunan Street
Line Street at President Street
Morris Street at Jasper Street
Smith Street at Radcliffe Street
Charles Street at Francis Street
Also at 2 p.m., the S.C. Highway Patrol was reporting flooded roadways at Orangeburg Road and U.S. Highway 17-A and at Dorchester and Orangeburg roads.
Before noon, there were reports of flooding on Johns Island near Plowground Road and on Toogoodoo Road in Meggett.
The National Weather Service had issued a flood advisory at 10 a.m., which was allowed to expire at 1 p.m. The rain has slowed down, but weather radar shows some rain continues over a portion of the tri-county.
The Department of Natural Resources reports high tide in Charleston will be at 6:27 p.m.
