More than 1,000 students from 12 schools are expected to celebrate African American Heritage Day at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park.
Students will have the chance to tour several exhibits on topics such as Gullah storytelling, African drumming and dance, sweetgrass baskets, Carolina rice and indigo history, Sierra Leone/South Carolina connections and 54th Massachusetts re-enactors.
The event is held in honor of Black History Month.
