Bill would make students with intellectual disabilities eligible for lottery scholarships
Five of the state’s public colleges and universities, including the College of Charleston, have programs for students with intellectual disabilities. But those students aren’t eligible for lottery scholarships.
A bill filed in the Senate this week could change that. It would make $5,000 LIFE scholarships available to those students. Advocates of such programs say that’s important because many students can’t enroll, or can’t complete such programs because they can’t afford it.
