The Charleston RiverDogs are holding open tryouts to perform the national anthem during the upcoming season.
The tryouts are scheduled at 4 p.m. March 5 behind home plate at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park. The weather date is March 6.
Auditions are open to performers of all kinds and ensembles of nine or less; groups of 10 or more are asked to partake in the RiverDogs group anthem program. Information on the group program can be found online at atmilb.com/YZXBUj.
If someone has performed at a past game or has been on the approved singer list (chosen but unable to perform for whatever reason), they do not need to reaudition but should indicate as such on the application form that is available at atmilb.com/WKS4SM. Forms must be filled out and submitted prior to the audition day.
The team has 70 home games beginning April 11.
“This is one of our more popular events of our offseason and reminds us that the baseball season is fast approaching,” said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. “Our national anthem tryouts always draw a large number of talented individuals and groups. We appreciate their interest, and we’re looking forward to the tryouts. It will be an exciting time.”
Auditioning does not guarantee a spot, as the RiverDogs routinely have more qualified performers than available game dates.
