Cougars hang on for 67-65 win over Western Carolina
Andrew Lawrence hit two free throws with .6 seconds left to play to lift the College of Charleston past Western Carolina, 67-65, Wednesday night at the Ramsey Center.
The Cougars led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but Western Carolina’s Trey Sumler, who finished with 24 points, hit a driving layup with 4.6 seconds to play to tie the game.
Lawrence got the inbounds pass, drove the length of the floor and was fouled with under a second to play.
The Cougars improved to 20-8 overall and 12-4 in the Southern Conference. Western Carolina dropped to 11-17 and 8-8.
Trent Wiedeman finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Adjehi Baru added 13 points and nine rebounds.
