Charleston police: Man waved gun on club stage with drugs in pockets

Tyric J. Beoate, 32, of Cartwright Drive was arrested Friday after witnesses said he was dancing around on stage at Plan B waving a gun. Police also said they found pot and Ecstacy on him.

A man danced on stage at a West Ashley nightclub waving a gun in the air with pot and Ecstasy in his pockets, according to police who arrested him last week.

Tyric J. Becoate, 32, of Cartwright Drive in Charleston County was charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy.

Charleston police arrested Becoate early Friday morning at Plan B at 2035 Ashley Town Center Drive after club security officers confiscated a 9 mm Stoeger Cougar from his waistband, according to the incident report. Witnesses said he was waving the gun around while dancing on stage.

Police also found a bag of marijuana and a bag of Ecstasy pills on him, according to the report.

Becoate is being held in the Charleston County jail on $200,620 total bail.
