GREENVILLLE — A Greenville man has been found dead from hypothermia a day after a minor traffic wreck.

The Greenville County Coroner’s office says 34-year-old Stuart Lamount McDowell was found dead in the driveway of a home shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.

Officials say McDowell had been involved in a minor traffic accident late Sunday afternoon and flagged down a motorist for help before running from the scene.

Deputy Coroner Barry Wright says McDowell’s body was found at a home about a quarter mile from the accident scene.

Wright says there were no signs of trauma or indication of disease. He said McDowell’s core body temperature was 50 degrees.

Wright said McDowell had been in the woods and a creek, and some of his clothes were found in the water.
