Students previously turned away from Trident Tech now allowed to enroll
The students who were turned away from registering for classes at Trident Technical College because of their residency status in the United States will now be allowed to register.
About two weeks ago, a group of students who have been granted a temporary stay by U.S. Department of Homeland Security tried signing up for classes, but were told by enrollment officials that they couldn’t, citing state law.
The college’s leaders said their hands were tied because state law conflicted with the federal order. Today, spokesman David Hanson said they’ve received legal clarification and will now allow the students to attend the college.
