Gov. Nikki Haley assembles big team for possible re-election bid
Gov. Nikki Haley has not decided if she will seek a second term, but she has formed a statewide grassroots steering committee with 164 members from all 46 counties.
Kurt Pickhardt, Haley’s political director, said she asked that the team be put together in case she runs again, adding the team “will provide an invaluable backbone to our efforts to spread Gov. Haley’s message of jobs, reform, and a brighter future.”
The 14 Charleston area members include: Jim Davis, Terry Hardesty, Ben Huckaby, Lisa Shealy, Lin Bennett, Cindy Costa, Belinda Roberts, Lanneau Siegling, Mark Smith, Jordan Bryngelson, Carroll Duncan, Wiley Johnson, Bill Spearman, and Aaron Wagner. Many hold leadership positions in their county party.
Haley is expected to announce her re-election plans this summer.
