Free screening of “Soul Food Junkies”
Soul food may lie at the heart of African-Americans’ cultural identity, but the black community’s love affair with the cuisine is deep-rooted, complex and, in some cases, deadly.
The film “Soul Food Junkies” puts this culinary tradition under the microscope to examine its significance and consequences.
A screening of the hour- long film and a panel discussion will be held 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday in the Medical University of South Carolina Basic Science Building, 173 Ashley Ave. downtown.
The event is preceded by a tour of the MUSC Urban Farm at Bee and President streets starting at 5 p.m.
The events are free and open to the public.
