CLEMSON — Former Clemson All-American Da’Quan Bowers was arrested today at LaGuardia Airport in New York City after police discovered he was illegally carrying a handgun, according to multiple reports.

According to NBCNewYork.com, Bowers had a loaded .40 caliber gun in his carry-on bag as he attempted to get on a flight to Raleigh, N.C.

Bowers, a Bamberg native, set a Clemson single-season record for sacks (15) in 2010 and was a second-round pick of Tampa Bay in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Bowers returned from a torn Achilles tendon this season for Tampa Bay.
