GREENVILLE — Mount Pleasant Swim Club’s Gabi Reed won three individual events in the 10-and-under age group at the South Carolina Short Course State Championships on Saturday, and LTP Racing Club’s 15-18 boys free relay set its second state record in as many days.
Reed won the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.63), 50 butterfly (30:03) and 100 individual medley (1:10.33).
LTP’s relay of Dirk Bell, Cason Brown, Ben Hillebrand and Matt Adams went 3:07.40, breaking a state record of 3:13.11 set by Team Greenville in 2010. On Friday, the same foursome set the record in the 800 relay.
Megan Kingsley (MPSC) took two titles in the girls 15-18 age group: 100 fly (53.66) and 400 IM (4:18.38).
SMRT’s Emma Gourdie won the 13-14 age group 200 free in 1:53.74, adding to her Friday victory in the 1000 free.
LTP Racing Club had four individual and two relay wins Saturday. In the 200 free, Kelsey Kraft (11-12) won with a time of 2:00.75, and Matt Adams (15-18) went 1:38.94. Joe Riddell (13-14) led the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.95. Mary Alice Dupree (11-12) took the 50 fly (28.08).
In addition to the boys relay, LTP’s 11-12 girls 200 free relay (Dupree, Gigi Fusco, Adesuwa Emovon, Kraft) won in 1:46.10.
Other local winners were 15-18 age-group swimmers Zach Lierley (MPSC) in the 400 IM (3:56.73), and SMRT’s Micah Bohon in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.03).
Competition continues through Monday at the Westside Aquatic Center.
