Alabama hires former Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele
CLEMSON - Alabama has officially announced the hiring of former Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele as its director of player personnel.
With deregulation of certain areas of recruiting set to kick in Aug. 1, colleges will be permitted to have support staff involved in recruiting and coaches like Clemson’s Dabo Swinney have speculated major programs will add to their football staffs, like Alabama continues to do.
Swinney hired Steele from Alabama in 2009 to lead the Clemson defense. Swinney fired Steele after the 2011 season.
Steele was previously the Alabama defensive coordinator under Nick Saban.
