CLEMSON — Daniel Gossett picked up where he left off June 2, 2012, when he left a start in an NCAA Regional game against South Carolina in position to win, and Shane Kennedy could not have had a better debut in Clemson’s season-opening, 2-0, win against William & Mary.
Gossett did not allow a run over 6.2 innings, allowing four hits, one walk, while striking out six.
Kennedy, a junior college transfer, slammed a two-out, two-run home run into the left-field seats in the eighth inning for the game’s only scoring.
Matt Campbell came on with two on and one out in the ninth to record the save.
