Goodwill employees have a new place in North Charleston to learn new skills.

Palmetto Goodwill is opening a new training center today. Mayor Keith Summey is scheduled to attend the ribbon cutting.

The center will help train Goodwill employees in retail, food and custodial services and grocery shelf stocking, and food service. Workers who complete the training will have the chance to become certified by national food service and custodial organizations.

The center will also offer leadership training.

The center has five computer stations allowing employees to take certification tests, use computer software and apply for jobs after graduating from the training program.
