North Charleston Councilwoman Rhonda Jerome named mayor pro tem
North Charleston City Councilwoman Rhonda Jerome was elected mayor pro tempore at a city meeting Thursday night. The mayor pro tem, as the position is usually known, fills in for the mayor when the mayor is not present, taking on duties such as chairing meetings.
Jerome represents District 2 and has served on City Council since 2003. She was most recently re-elected in 2011, when she ran unopposed.
The vote to name Jerome mayor pro tem was unanimous, with council members Todd Olds and Bobby Jameson absent the meeting. The previous mayor pro tem was Councilman Bob King.
