Sarah Feingold, an eighth-grader at Charleston Catholic School, won third place at the South Carolina Junior Beta Club Convention essay contest. Her writing earned her a spot as an alternate for the National Junior Beta Club Convention in June.

Charleston Catholic sent 24 seventh- and eighth-graders to the convention.

They competed against more than 3,000 middle school students from across the state. They participated in 14 academic and art competitions, including math, science, poster, tower of power, banner, T-shirt and quiz bowl.

“Sarah did an excellent job on her essay,” said Principal Fred McKay. “Her hard work has paid off, and I am very proud of her and her classmates for their teamwork and contributions. They made this year’s Beta Club trip a great success.”
