USC baseball picked third SEC Eastern Division
South Carolina’s baseball team was picked to finish third in the SEC’s Eastern Division in a poll of the league’s coaches.
The Gamecocks won the national championship in 2010 and 2011 and were the national runners-up last season.
They were picked to finish behind Vanderbilt and Florida in the SEC East. Arkansas was picked to win the Western Division and the overall league championship.
USC opens the season Friday afternoon at home against Liberty. The Gamecocks won the SEC East last season and tied for the division title in 2011.
They have won or tied for the division title six times and won the league’s regular season thrice, most recently in 2011.
