Teen arrested in James Island burglary

A teen has been charged with a burglary on James Island.

Somebody entered a house on Affirmation Boulevard on Monday and stole jewelry, money and electronic equipment, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said. The crime was reported about 5:15 p.m.

Derick Alexander Hammond, 17, of Nabors Drive, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary. He is being held in the Charleston County jail.
