Saltwater Sportsman Seminar scheduled Saturday at Charleston Southern

The Saltwater Sportsman National Seminar Series will be held Saturday at Charleston Southern University’s Lightsey Auditorium.

Final registration begins at 8 a.m. at the door, and the seminar will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There also will be a Kid’s seminar from noon-1 p.m. Tickets are $55 and one child 15 or younger per paying adult will be admitted free.

Heading the seminar will be George Poveromo, host of George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing on the NBC Sports Network as well as editor at large for Saltwater Sportsman, and regional editor Ric Burnley.

Local speakers will include Capt. Chris Chavis, Capt. Graham Hegamyer, Capt. Dan Utley, Capt. Fred Rourk and Capt. Ben Alderman. Also on the faculty will be Capt. Bouncer Smith, Capt. Jimmy Price, Harry Vernon III, Capt. David Wicker and Dave Workman Jr.

Clemson Club meeting

The Charleston County Clemson Club will hold its Annual Recruiting Recap on Tuesday night at the Midtown Bar & Grill at 559 King Street.

Guest speakers will be former Clemson linebacker Brandon Maye, who has a new book coming out, and radio analyst Mickey Plyler.

The program includes a complimentary appetizer buffet, drink and food specials and a Paw Power Happy Hour set for 5:30 p.m.

Cost is $20 for non-members, with $25 annual family memberships available at the door.
