Man in court in case of SC teen’s disappearance
COLUMBIA — A bond hearing has been set for a man suspected in the disappearance of a Columbia teen.
Authorities say 53-year-old Freddie Grant is to appear in court Friday afternoon on a kidnapping charge.
In January, a federal jury found Grant guilty of being a felon in possession of ammunition. Authorities found the bullets when they searched Grant’s home for Gabbiee Swainson.
The girl was 15 when her mother reported her missing from their home early on Aug. 18. Authorities say Grant had dated the girl’s mother and that Gabbiee’s blood was found on duct tape near Grant’s property.
Grant could face life in prison on the federal charge.
