A Moncks Corner resident was killed today when the car he was driving left the highway, struck a brick wall and ran into a town house, authorities said.

William Clyde Lynch, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The manner and cause of death are pending further investigation, he said.

Lynch was driving a 2001 Mercury sedan north on Old U.S. Highway 52. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The town house, unoccupied at the time of the 2:43 p.m. wreck, had minimal damage, the Highway Patrol said.
