Northeast snowstorm affecting flights at Charleston airport
A number of flights into and out of Charleston International Airport have been canceled or delayed because of the snowstorm in the Northeast today, according to an airport official.
As of noon, Seven Delta flights and three United flights have been canceled and two United flights have been delayed, according to airport spokeswoman Becky Beaman.
The canceled flights are to and from the New York City area. The delayed flights are to and from Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C.
Charleston airport officials ask people to check with airlines before arriving at the airport for a departing flight or to pick up someone that was scheduled to fly in.
There is no word yet on whether flights will be affected Saturday as the Northeast digs out from the storm. Beaman said airlines are monitoring the storm as it progresses and making decisions as needed.
