Negotiations between Durham School Services and the bus drivers’ union are continuing, and Charleston and Dorchester 2 school buses are expected to run their regular routes today.

Neither the drivers’ union nor the company released any new information Wednesday, but Charleston school officials said they were told talks were ongoing and buses would run.

The union has promised not to strike if negotiations are taking place.

The talks between the union representing drivers and the company that employs them started last summer. The two sides are trying to agree on a new employment contract, and they’ve heated up during the past two weeks.

The biggest issue has been bus drivers’ pay. Drivers in Charleston and Dorchester 2 have authorized a strike if necessary.

On Tuesday, the union said Durham walked out of negotiations, but Durham said that wasn’t true. The company has said it has been unable to meet the union’s “unreasonable” demands.
