New Summerville pet store to open Feb. 16
The Charleston area’s newest pet shop will be ready for business at 10 a.m. Feb. 16.
Ohio-based Petland will open in the former Burke’s Outlet space at 975 Bacons Bridge Road in Summerville. Look for giveaways and family fun during the grand opening of the 7,000-square-foot store.
Local entrepreneurs Mike and Janet Shaub will operate the store at Summerville Galleria.
The shop will carry small birds, reptiles, fish, ferrets and small animals, along with related pet supplies and an extensive offering of dog and cat food.
They also will offer Operation Pet Shield, a pet protection package that includes lost pet protection, vet visit, training, universal microchip and registration.
Petland community programs will include adopt-a-pet to help find homes for homeless pets at animal shelters, pet therapy where the store’s pets visit schools and nursing homes, and charity work of fulfilling pet-related wishes through the Make-a-Wish Foundation of America and collecting funds for St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
The store will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
