President Barack Obama created “skeet-gate” recently after the White House released a photo of him target shooting from August 2012.
“Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” Obama told the New Republic during a question about his own gun use.
Whatever the frequency of his habit, the president apparently still shoots more often than three other South Carolina notables who were randomly surveyed Monday.
Asked when was the last time she fired a gun, Gov. Nikki Haley, who has a concealed-weapons permit, said, “It would have had to have been before the election. I won’t tell you who I fired it at. Just kidding!”
North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said the last time he fired a gun was about seven to eight years ago, target shooting at a range.
Charleston Mayor Joe Riley said he wears hearing aides, which makes shooting uncomfortable even with protective ear wear.
He said he used to hunt and was there when his sons got their first duck and dove.
The last time Riley fired a gun was probably about 15 years ago, he said.
