Two hospitalized after this morning’s wreck on I-26
Two people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle wreck on Interstate 26 this morning, S.C. Highway Patrol troopers say.
The wreck occurred as Larry Jenkis, 49, of Goose Creek was slowing for traffic behind Charleston County Sheriff’s deputy Dennis Carter, 53, of North Charleston, Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant said.
Jenkis’ 2005 Kia sport-utility vehicle was struck from behind by a 2005 Chevrolet driven by Carmon Custodio, 64, of Goose Creek, Wyant said.
The impact forced Jenkis to crash into Carter’s unmarked 2009 Crown Victoria, Wyant said.
Paramedics transported Jenkis to Medical University Hospital and Custodio to Trident Medical Center for treatment, Wyant said.
Custodio will be cited in the incident, Wyant said.
Two lanes were shut down for about 90 minutes as crews cleared the scene.
