Several Charleston area hotels dominated U.S. News & World Report’s “Top 10 Hotels in South Carolina.”

Eight of the top 10 hotels are in the Charleston market and all 10 are on the coast.

The Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton topped the list again.

Coming in at No. 2 was the Wentworth Mansion hotel in downtown Charleston.

Other Charleston hotels in the Top 10 included No. 3 The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, No. 5 HarbourView Inn, No. 6 Market Pavilion Hotel, No. 7 Planters Inn, No. 8 Restoration on King, No. 9 Charleston Place Hotel by Orient Express, and No. 10 French Quarter Inn.

The Sea Pines Resort’s Inn at HarbourTown came at No. 4.

The rankings are based on an analysis of awards, expert recommendations and consumer ratings.

“This is our third year ranking hotels and the bar continues to climb for luxury properties, “ said Chad Smolinski, vice president of rankings and reviews at U.S. News & World Report. “Desirable amenities and hotel loyalty programs will no longer suffice. People are seeking hotels that go above and beyond to give their guests an unforgettable experience. Hotels that consistently meet the high expectations of experts and travelers are recognized in our rankings.”
