Marines to conduct training in Jasper County
Associated Press
BEAUFORT — About 150 Marines and sailors will conduct a training exercise in Jasper County this week.
The Beaufort Gazette reports http://bit.ly/WlIYK6 that the urban training exercise that starts Thursday provides training for the group before they are deployed to Mediterranean and African areas.
The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit training in Ridgeland will run through Saturday.
A Marine spokesman, 2nd Lt. Gerard R. Farao, says residents may see military vehicles and aircraft. Some exercises will occur at night. Farao says people may hear “popping” sounds as the Marines fire blanks.
