Police arrested Theodore Robert Nelson, 29, of Sunnyside Avenue, and charged him in connection with an armed robbery that happened at Coming and Calhoun streets.

Charleston police on Sunday arrested a man 20 minutes after they say he robbed another man at gunpoint.

Police arrested Theodore Robert Nelson, 29, of Sunnyside Avenue, and charged him with armed robbery, unlawful carrying of a handgun and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

A man gave police a description of the armed man he said robbed him of his iPhone about 4:20 a.m. on Sunday at Coming and Calhoun streets.

Officers canvassed the area and found the suspect riding a lime green bicycle near Coming and Radcliffe streets a short while later, Francis said.

Nelson is being held at the Charleston County jail in connection with the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, Francis said.
