Wreck investigators shut down I-526
Traffic on Interstate 526 was slowed to a crawl for more than four hours Saturday as investigators from the North Charleston Police Department closed down several eastbound lanes of the expressway to perform an accident reconstruction investigation.
About 8 a.m., a news advisory was issued by the S.C. Department of Transportation saying that police were reconstructing a collision from last Sunday. Drivers on the interstate, also known as the Mark Clark Expressway, had to leave the interstate at Exit 16 and get back on at Exit 15.
There were reports on social media at 12:40 p.m. that the lanes were still closed, but traffic on the DOT traffic camera for the area appeared to have returned to normal.
