Two people were shot late Wednesday outside of a Colleton County nightclub.
Colleton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at the the Chase Lounge on Proctor and Rivers streets, just outside of Walterboro, about 9:45 p.m., Colleton Chief Deputy Ted Stanfield said.
One man who was shot three times was taken to the Medical University Hospital by ambulance because of the rain, according to a source at the scene. That man is in critical condtition, Stanfield said.
A second person was shot in the arm and taken to Colleton Medical Center. He is in stable condition, Stanfield said.
Stanfield said no suspects were at the scene when they arrived. It’s not clear whether it was a result of a drive-by shooting or a confrontation in the parking lot. Witnesses only heard gunshots and no one had a description of the shooter, he said.
It’s at least the second shooting at the club since September 6, when Moray Dupree Holmes was shot to death about 9:50 p.m. Quoteas Sylvester Nesbitt was charged with murder.
Anyone with information about Wednesday night’s shooting is asked to call the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 549-2211.
