Police: Water drinker leaves restaurant empty handed after asking for register’s cash
A man who spent 45 minutes drinking water at a North Charleston Huddle House then asked a waitress to open the cash register before taking off empty handed, according to police.
The waitress at 6486 Dorchester Rd. told police that yesterday at 11:54 p.m. a man got up after drinking his water and walked around the counter to the cash register, a police report stated.
The man requested the waitress open the register, she refused, and he asked again, police said. After the man asked again and the waitress refused again, he ran off, according to the report.
The man never indicated he had a weapon and was not seen with a weapon, said North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor.
Officers’ K-9s were unable to find a track due to the rainy and windy weather conditions, the report stated.
