Firefighters extinguished flames at a Charleston apartment complex this morning.

Charleston, North Charleston and Saint Andrews fire departments helped extinguish the fire at Ashley Oaks Apartments, 78 Ashley Hall Plantation Road, Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh said.

Firefighters arrived at the complex and saw light smoke coming from a second story apartment, Julazadeh said.

Crews contained the fire to the attic above one unit, Julazadeh said.

No injuries were reported in the incident, but Julazadeh said smoke damage effected four of the building’s eight units.

The fire’s cause is currently under investigation, but is believed to be related to a heating and air-conditioning unit, Julazadeh said.
