A fire that ripped through a Goose Creek home this morning also killed a dog, authorities say.

Firefighters with Goose Creek Rural Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a home on Elrod Drive about 3:38 a.m., Fire Chief Bob Maibach said.

Pimlico Rural Fire Department helped put out the blaze, which Maibach said took about 10 minutes to control.

The flames were contained in the home’s kitchen and dining area, but Maibach said smoke damage spread throughout the rest of the home.

Five adults and four children were at the home when the fire broke out. No one was injured in the blaze, Maibach said.

The fire’s cause may have been electrical, Maibach said.
