Berkeley County man charged in Holly Hill man’s slaying

A Berkeley County man has been charged in connection with a September 2012 fatal shooting in Holly Hill, Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced today.

Kenneth Campbell, Jr., 22, of Cedar Drive in Saint Stephen, was attempting to rob Richard Davis on Sept. 24 when Davis was shot and killed, Ravenell said.

Davis was found in the front yard of his Surfside Drive home, Ravenell said.

“We are grateful to bring closure to the victim’s family,” Ravenell said in a news release.

Campbell is charged with murder. He was being held in the Orangeburg County jail, pending an arraignment scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today, the release states.
