Driver extinguishes flames on school bus in McClellanville

A bus driver extinguished flames that sparked on a school bus in McClellanville this morning, deputies say.

Charleston County deputies responded to U.S. Highway 17 in McClellanville about 6:15 a.m. following reports of a fir eon a school bus, Maj. Jim Brady said.

The Durham bus was transporting four students to Academic Magnet High School when the incident occurred, Charleston County School District spokesman Jason Sakran said.

The driver had already extinguished the flames by the time authorities arrived and Brady said no one was injured.

The flames appeared to come from the bus’ brakes, Brady said.
