Search panel set to find an SC State president

ORANGEBURG — South Carolina State University has named a 14-member committee to search for a new president for the Orangeburg school.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports http://bit.ly/WwPhZF the panel is made up of members of the university board’s executive committee, alumni, employees and others.

The university has been without a permanent president since George Cooper resigned last March. Rita Teal served as acting president until July 5, when Cynthia Warrick was named interim president.

No date for finding a new president has been set.

But university board Chairman Walter Tobin has mentioned a new president could be named by April 1 and take office in July.
