Coroner: 1 killed in Spartanburg County house fire
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- One person has died in a house fire in Spartanburg County.
Authorities say they got a call just before 3:15 a.m. Friday that someone was trapped inside a burning home in the Converse area.
Officials say there had been seven people in the home, but everyone got out except for one person and the family pets.
Firefighters put the fire out, but all the water they used turned to ice in the sub-freezing temperatures Friday morning. Department of Transportation officials came to drop sand around the home to make it safer for firefighters.
A cause of the fire and the name of the person who died in it have not been released.
