COLUMBIA — Icy conditions are possible across much of northern South Carolina heading into the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the north central and northwestern part of the state in effect until late Friday night.

Forecasters say freezing rain is most likely to fall in the area. There is a slight chance of some sleet and light snow in the northwestern corner of South Carolina.

Little ice accumulation is expected.

No precipitation was falling in the state early Friday morning.
