Awendaw firefighter released from Augusta, Ga. burn center
The Awendaw District Fire Department firefighter who was injured while fighting a structure fire Thursday night on Society Road in McClellanville has been released from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga.
Charleston County authorities did not name the fireman but a source identified him as Patrick Phillips, which was confirmed by the hospital.
He has been with the department for four years.
He was taken by Charleston County EMS to the Medical University Hospital and later taken to the burn center as a precautionary measure.
