Police say Citadel Mall robbery report false, arrest employee and another man

The claim of a robbery at The Citadel Mall Wednesday night is false, fabricated by a worker who wanted to steal the money himself, according to Charleston police.

An employee of Gold Buyers America told police a man punched him in the face and took the company’s bank bag about 9:20 p.m.

Hasan Mungo, 19, of Carnegie Avenue, an employee, was arrested today and charged with filing a false felony police report, conspiracy to commit a felony and breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

Cavin Eric Lavon Coleman, 21, of Dovehaven Court, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Both men are being held in the Charleston County jail.
