James Island man charged in burglary, domestic violence case
Police on Monday arrested a James Island man who they said kicked in his ex-girlfriend’s front door and punched the woman in the face several times.
Police charged Tyler Richardson, 25, of Wild Rich Way with first-degree burglary and criminal domestic violence in connection with the incident, an incident report states.
Police said Richardson kicked in the front door of his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend’s Fleming Road home, ran upstairs and kicked down a bedroom door to get to the woman.
Richardson punched the woman in the face several times, an incident report states.
A man who was at the home grabbed Richardson, giving the woman a chance to run downstairs and out the front door, the report states.
Richardson broke free, however, caught up with the woman and continued to punch her, according to the report.
The woman told police Richardson fled toward Fleming and Central Park roads.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the woman for injuries received in the attack, the report states.
The woman told police she has a child with Richardson, and that he moved out of the home more than a month ago.
The child was not at the home during the attack, the report states.
The woman told police Richardson was angry because he thought she was having a relationship with one of his friends.
Police said Richardson has a prior arrest for criminal domestic violence.
He was being held at the Charleston County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
