The body of a 64-year-old man missing since Saturday has been found floating in water near Charlestowne Landing, police say.

A Charlestowne Landing employee saw Richard Sloane’s body floating in Old Creek today, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Sloane had been living on his boat in the Ashley River, police say.

One of Sloane’s friends saw him on his boat at about noon Friday, and the same friend told officers Saturday that he hadn’t been able to locate Sloane since then, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Sloane’s boat was anchored in the Ashley River, and officials were searching Monday between the City Marina and Ashley Marina, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

The search continued Tuesday morning, before Sloane’s body was found.
