The loud report of gunfire that promotes a Sangaree gun shop might have made East Coast Guns the latest victim of a persistent purge of gun-related advertising in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., mass shooting and proposed gun restrictions.
Shop owner Ron Saprovero said his local cable advertising contract for ESPN programming has not been renewed. The network’s advertising standards stipulate it will review and likely not approve firearm related endorsements. But the shop’s ad has been running for several months, Saprovero said. He says the denial is hypocritical.
