Search for missing man to continue Monday
The search for a man last seen working on his boat in the Ashley River continues.
Richard Sloane, 64, was last seen about noon Friday on his boat anchored across from The City Marina, according to a friend who reported him missing.
Divers with the Charleston Police Department, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad searched until dark Saturday near Sloane’s boat and the Ashley River bridges. They resumed the search Sunday morning and reported finding nothing at the end of the day. The search will resume Monday, police department spokesman Charles Francis said. Sloane is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds, according to a police news release reporting him missing.
NOTE: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Sloane lived at the marina. His boat was anchored in the river across the marina.
